#1 Focus should be on long-term player development, not winning games
- Each player will play at least 50% of every game.
- We will be developing players and placing them in positions which they will be successful. Players will all be taught to play on either side of the pitch. Our goalies will receive training instrumental to their comfort and success. Early goalie specialization will be discouraged.
#2 Emphasize teamwork, respect and fair play
- Soccer matches are a way for players to practice good values that they can carry into later years and adulthood:
- The value of being part of a team.
- Respecting coaches, teammates, opponents, and the referee.
- Sportsmanship and fair play.
#3 Matches are important to player development
- They provide players a chance to let loose and go at it.
- Performing skills and tactics learned during training, at game speed, is the ultimate proof that players are developing.
Game day behavior makes an impression on your players and your parents, they set the tone through their behavior and actions.
